Identity & Business Verification (KYC/KYB)
To comply with banking regulations and ensure the security of funds, we must verify the identity of our investors and project holders. This page guides you through this process.
Verifications are processed by our accredited payment service provider, Lemonway.
Introduction to Verification
Verification is a legal requirement. Due to strict legal compliance regulations regarding Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), this verification step is strictly enforced for all financial platforms.
Gamevestor partners with Lemonway, a regulated payment institution, to ensure your funds and data are secure.
Even for the purchase of a single ticket, we must strictly comply with current financial regulations. This requires a standard identity verification (KYC) to guarantee the security and legality of all transactions on the platform.
You can browse, pledge, or even submit a game project draft on Gamevestor without immediate verification.
However, to access financial information, invest, or receive funds (for studios), you must verify your identity with our payment service provider Lemonway.
To be able to invest, you must also complete all of your profile information as well as pass the suitability test.
To reduce the risk of rejection, please ensure your documents meet these quality standards:
- Valid and Recent: Ensure the document is not expired.
- Consistency: The First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth on your Gamevestor account must match exactly what is written on the document you upload.
- Full Color & Clarity: Do not upload black and white scans. The image must be in color, legible, and not blurry.
- No Cut Corners: The entire document (all 4 corners) must be visible in the photo or scan.
- No Glare: Ensure there is no flash reflection covering important information on the ID card or passport.
Live Video Verification (Onfido)
This step uses artificial intelligence to confirm that you are a real person and that your face matches your ID. It is very strict to prevent identity theft.
Most failures happen because of browser settings. Follow these rules:
- Do not use "Private" or "Incognito" mode: This blocks camera access, especially on Safari (iOS).
- Copy the link manually: If you receive the link via email or scan a QR code, do not click it directly. Instead, copy the link and paste it into a standard browser (Chrome or Safari). Clicking directly often opens a "mini-browser" (webview) that fails to launch the camera.
- Update your browser: Ensure Chrome (Android) or Safari (iOS) is up to date.
- Grant Permissions: Allow camera and microphone access in your phone's system settings AND in the browser settings for the website.
- Close background apps: Video analysis requires processing power. Close other apps before starting.
- Lighting: The light source must be in front of you (e.g., facing a window). Avoid backlighting (don't have a window behind you).
- No Shadows: Watch out for shadows on your face, such as the shadow cast by your smartphone.
- Background: Stand alone against a neutral, plain wall. Ensure no other person is visible in the frame, even in the background.
- Uncover your face: Remove glasses, caps, scarves, or masks.
- No Glare: Reflections on glasses are a very frequent cause of rejection. Please take them off.
The system needs to detect "proof of life." If the application asks you to move your head:
- Move slowly: A slight rotation (about 25° to the right or left) is enough. Do not turn your head completely to profile.
- Maintain Eye Contact: Do not look away from the camera lens or screen while turning your head.
- Not too fast, not too still: Don't freeze completely, but avoid sudden movements that blur the image.
If you are stuck despite several attempts, two solutions are available to you:
- Open a ticket in the "support" section of our Discord.
- Email us at [email protected], specifying your first name, last name, and the email address associated with your account. Our team will help you resolve the situation.
We can open a priority incident ticket with our provider Lemonway/Onfido to investigate further.
Business Verification (Studios)
Verifying a company (KYB) is more complex than personal verification. Please read the requirements below carefully.
You can register directly by creating an account, then submitting your project via the form available at the bottom of the home page. The selection process involves a detailed review of your file by our team.
In the "Identity Verification" section of your profile, ensure your type is set to "Project Holder".
Important: The Legal Representative of the company must be the holder of the account. Only the Legal Representative will perform the camera-enabled online personal verification (liveness check).
However, you must provide IDs for all beneficial owners (UBOs).
Note: Validating your identity (KYC) may automatically trigger the transmission of your project file for evaluation.
Yes. You can use a roadmap as a temporary document (placeholder) during your initial submission.
Lemonway is very strict. Please provide all requested documents:
- Registration Proof: An extract dated less than 3 months (e.g., Kbis for France).
- Statutes: A signed copy of the company's Articles of Association.
- Shareholding Structure: A document certifying all shareholders and their respective percentages (template provided by support).
- UBO Register: Official document listing Ultimate Beneficial Owners.
- IDs: Passport or ID card (front/back) for the Legal Representative AND for every Beneficial Owner listed.
- Project "One-Pager": The brochure is a presentation document (Pitch Deck / Roadmap). Detailed legal elements (repayment terms, global framework, etc.) are discussed later and do not have to appear in the initial brochure.
- No-Crypto Declaration: A signed statement confirming the project does not involve cryptocurrency, NFTs, or Web3 mechanics.
Depending on where your studio is registered, the proof of registration varies:
- France: Extrait Kbis (less than 3 months old) + Status signed.
- Italy: Visura Camerale (less than 3 months old).
- Spain: Hoja del Registro Mercantil.
- Germany: Handelsregisterauszug (Commercial Register Extract).
There are specific regional difficulties (such as the rejection of local register extracts for certain countries, for example the Netherlands). If your document is rejected, contact our support directly for assistance on specific requirements for your country.
A UBO is any natural person who directly or indirectly owns more than 25% of the capital or voting rights. If a Holding company exists, a full organization chart is required. US Persons must be declared via specific forms.
For French studios created at least one year ago, you must provide an "Attestation de vigilance" (Fiscal & Social) proving the company is up to date with its payments.

Financial Investments (securities/Bonds) are currently restricted to citizens and companies of the European Union (in accordance with ECSP/PSFP regulations). On the other hand, Contributions (Donations, Pledges, Pre-purchases) are open to anyone in the world.
While the site prioritizes the European framework, non-residents of the EU (with the exception of "US Persons" who are strictly excluded) can attempt a KYC validation with our partner Lemonway, provided they accept that the investment is governed by French and European laws.
Yes, absolutely. You have a unique account for all your actions: you can invest in a project and also make a donation/pledge to obtain a copy of the game using the same profile.
We invite you to consult each project's profile for global limits. However, the current FAQ does not explicitly specify if there is a technical limit to the number of tickets a single individual can purchase per project.
